05.12 ArgumentOpinion Prompt

You are about to begin a writing task session. The results of this task will be used to assess your writing on the Argument/Opinion Genre.

Your writing task will be completed in one hour/period. During this time, you should plan, write, revise, and edit. You will type your essay but you will not receive more time to re-type your writing. You will submit the draft. If you work steadily, you should be able to complete your work during this amount of time.

In your writing, make sure you...

• Ensure that you develop a clear position for your essay. 
• Use the sources to develop your position. 
• Avoid summarizing the sources. 
• Provide citations for the sources that you use.

Important details:

• You will have 60 minutes for this task. Do not start the task, if you have less than 60 minutes.
• There will be a timer on the screen notifying you of the remaining time.
• If you have an IEP, 504, or ELL plan, please contact Ms. A to arrange the appropriate accommodations.
• You may access the text of your choice to cite during the assessment.
